Swiss & Italian Festival 2010
Born in Trieste (Italy), John is predominantly a self-taught artist. Throughout his life, he has continued to keep an interest and self-development in fine art. Since returning to full time art in 2005, John has exhibited at various notable art awards and exhibitions receiving encouraging reviews and commendations.
John is a realist by nature and this belief is reflected in his art. John work’s in a variety of mediums, including oils, acrylics, enamels, watercolours and pastels. John is at home painting landscapes, seascapes, drawing, etc., as he is painting contemporary, modern and topical subjects. John is conscious of creating his own style, rather than being influenced by others. His direction in art is to seek and define new boundaries, and to excite and evoke interest to the viewer.
The Carnevale di Venezia first recorded around 1296 by an edict declaring the day before Lent as a public holiday…since then the Carnevale has had many different guises throughout the centuries and by the 17th Century – it was and still is a worldwide attraction. The masks that John has painted, and that form part of this exhibition, are known as the “Bauta” (which covers all the face allowing for anonymity) and “Larva” (which allows for easier breathing, eating and flirting!). Works are for sale.
